Kenya is set to take centre stage in the global halal economy with the launch of the East Africa Halal Expo and Forum 2026. Officially unveiled by Future Growth Forum (FGF) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the Expo & Forum aims to position Nairobi and the broader East African region as a rising hub for halal trade, production, certification, and investment.
Somalia has taken a decisive step toward strengthening its presence in the global Halal economy. In a landmark move, the Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS) and the Future Growth Forum (FGF) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the Halal development agenda in Somalia, across the East African Community (EAC) region, and beyond.
Future Growth Forum in partnership with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Mombasa Chapter and the Mombasa County Government hosted the inaugural Mombasa Halal Workshop on June 26, under the Future Growth Forum. The one-day event brought together over 50 stakeholders from the public and private sectors to explore opportunities in the halal economy.
Halal certification, which adheres to Islamic laws regarding food, beverages, and other consumer products, is an increasingly sought-after credential in many Muslim-majority countries.

With a rising Muslim population and increasing demand for ethical, Sharia-compliant goods and services, the country stands at the cusp of a halal renaissance—one that blends faith, finance, and food into an opportunity-rich frontier.
